Small Business Casual: Content Marketing, Productivity, Customer Experience for Entrepreneurs & Creators
Welcome to Small Business Casual, where we focus on designing a sustainable, cozy, and thriving business tailored to your LIFE. Not the other way around!
Here, small business meets your favorite pair of slippers. It's a little quirky, not too buttoned up, one less accessory, ahhh… just right.
From customer service, business productivity, and content marketing to making sense-of-the-behind the scenes, chaos, I walk alongside you as we make life and business less of a roller coaster ride and more like a walk in the park (with snacks, of course!).
I offer Small Business Copywriting & Content Marketing Consulting to interior designers, home trade professionals, service providers, coaches, consultants, non-profits, and entrepreneurs with a big mission!

Receiving Cash & Compliments
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
We spend a whole lot of energy trying to make more, attract more, and sell more, but very little on learning how to actually receive what's already trying to reach us.
This week, I'm talking about the unglamorous missing link in so many "abundance" conversations: Building (slowly) the capacity for the receiving.
We get into why receiving is so hard, what it's costing us, and a toolkit of small reps for letting more of the good stuff land. Don't worry, this one isn't going to involve crystals, vision boards, or affirmations taped to your bathroom mirror, I promise.
- Why it can be hard to receive as business owners, even though the whole point is making money...
- The Upper Limit Problem, and how we self-sabotage our way back to baseline right when things are going well
- What compliment deflection really doing
- Making receiving cash easier
- A practice toolkit you can start today

Your Receiving Toolkit (Pick One or Two This Week)
- The full-stop thank you. Compliment, cash, or gratitude comes your way? You just say thank you. No deflecting or just swapping it out for another compliment.
- The receiving inventory (idea courtesy of Ande Lyons @andelyons). Write down everything you receive, big or small, and celebrate it.
- The upper-limit catch. Right after a win, watch for the self-sabotage urge, then name it.
- Practice receiving in low-stakes. Let someone carry the bags or buy the coffee. Build the muscle where nothing's on the line.
- The receipts file (aka the happy file). Keep every kind word, review, card, and testimonial in one place, and reread them when scarcity creeps in.
- The price-raise experiment. Nudge your next proposal up a smidgeon, watch nothing bad happen, and notice what stories come up.
